When installing a DESkey USB or PC Card device you may encounter the following error:

This is common on a 64 bit host when drivers have previously been installed that have no 64 bit support. This could happen with DK2 drivers prior to version 6.21.
To resolve the issue you must perform the following tasks. Firstly, remove the DESkey from the machine. Then via the add/remove programs control panel applet, remove the existing drivers. Then:
On Microsoft Windows Vista only:
Open the start menu, right click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator to open a command prompt as an Administrator

Type pnputil -e into the command prompt to run the PnP Utility.
Make a note of all references to Data Encryption Systems Limited as you will be required to remove these files.
For each file previously noted, remove it using the command pnputil -f -d oem##.inf, where ## is a number.

Please note: If you encounter any errors running pnputil, or if it does not indicate that each driver package was deleted successfully, then contact Support immediatly.
On all version of Microsoft Windows:
Open the Registry Editor by running regedit from the Start Menu.
Find and delete the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{364212FF-E2D
8-452d-8282-897C09B79863}
Reboot the PC. Then download the latest drivers from our website www.deskey.co.uk and when complete, re-insert the hardware device and the new hardware wizard should complete successfully.
